Maybe it’s like the U.K. ghost trains aka Parliament Trains, it’s easier to keep a route open at least partially as opposed to going through all the palaver of closing it down.

In the U.K. it has too be reviewed for a certain period, then put to public vote with authorities assessing whether route is needed even if only for a few people, etc, etc....

It’ll just be easier and cheaper to offer a nominal service in the long run.

Its not just ghost trains. There was a video how some airlines run stupidly empty routes so they don’t loose gate and takeoff slots.

If I had to guess, I’d say 20% of all American employees are on the payroll just to keep the manager/department from losing that money.

I had a position like that once. You do nothing, collect a check, but go nowhere. And eventually there’s a new manager who gets wise to the situation. The employee is just the victim.

That was me. Exactly me. I’d go a week, from 8 am Monday until 5 pm Friday and not do a single damn thing. Surf the internet, maybe... I left because I couldn’t respect myself. ‘Twas a joke.

I think companies saw in 2009 how deep they can cut when times get rough. I think the next recession is going to be even more brutal especially for retail. Everytime i have to go in Best buy or home depot I think wtf do half these people do?
